The Uttar Pradesh state government launched a new scheme Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana. The scheme aims to assist in the remarriage of widowed or divorced women as well as the marriage of daughters from state households with lower incomes. The state government contributes a total of Rs. 51,000 to each recipient couple’s marriage under this scheme. The scheme will see Rs 51,000 deposited into the girl’s account, Rs 25,000 provided as a present, and Rs 15,000 spent on the occasion. A committee has been established by the state government to identify these qualified couple beneficiaries.

The UP Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana will now provide Rs 1 lakh instead of Rs 51,000 because the Uttar Pradesh government made the decision to raise the financial aid. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh was present at the mass wedding ceremony held in Gorakhpur as part of the CM Mass Marriage Scheme. 1200 newlywed couples who were recipients of the scheme received presents from CM Yogi.
He went on to say that there are nocaste, regional, or religious in these weddings, and are there any dowry or child marriages. Prior to 2017 only Rs 20,000 was provided as financial assistance for SC/ST women’s weddings. The beneficiaries never received the money on time and occasionally they never did. Today, however, the bride receives Rs 60,000 in the bank along with the couple’s clothes and jewellery.

Benefits
- This is available to all Uttar Pradesh state households that are needy, disadvantaged and financially weak.
- Under this scheme, the bride’s bank account receives Rs.35,000 to help establish the home, and the pair receives Rs.10,000 worth of wedding related supplies such as clothing, ornaments and utensils.
- In addition, Rs.6000 is set aside for expenses related to each marriage. Therefore, a total of Rs.51,000 is set aside for each marriage.
